Cup Check! May 22, 2015

Welcome to The Other Half’s crowdsourced playoff-recap for May 22, 2015, with analysis by the radiantly happy Beth Machlan and noodly details by Sheila Lane.

As fans were told all night ad nauseam, Rick Nash organized a Rangers team trip to see the Entourage movie, which is basically some Peak Bro shit and subjected them to endless Twitter ridicule (Twitticule?) Then they won 5-1 and Nash scored 2 goals, so I guess the message here is BRO BIG OR BRO HOME. The Rangers bro’d big, and now they’re bro-ing home with the Eastern Conference Final series tied 2-2.

At the end of the night Twitter user @nearidlelark said it best:

How about them details:

(NYR) Rick Nash at 17:18 in the 1st period

(TBL) Steven Stamkos at 11:30 in the 2nd period

(NYR) Chris Kreider at 15:16 in the 2nd period
(NYR) Keith Yandle at 17:04 in the 2nd period
(NYR) PPG – Martin St. Louis at 5:08 in the 3rd period
(NYR) PPG – Rick Nash at 11:33 in the 3rd period

Goalies: Lundqvist (NYR) stopped 38 of 39, Bishop (TBL) stopped 19 of 24.

A little altercation between rookies Kevin Hayes (6’5’’) and Tyler Johnson (5’8’’) definitely looked like someone was getting shaken down for their lunch money, but not necessarily whom you’d expect …

Some Rangers stats. One of these things is not like the others.

Did you know that Craig Killorn went to Harvard? I bet you do, because NBC reminds us all the livelong day! That doesn’t make him immune to bad puns, though.

Bud Light on the bench? Sure, why not. Hell, if my opponent was scoring at 25%, I’d be drinking too, honey.

Rick Nash finally sprang for a can of snake repellent and scored two goals. No more snakebite; brief respite from fears of deranged fans slitting his throat in his sleep.

Maybe we wait another week before putting Marty out to pasture, huh?

“Juuuuuuuust a bit outside!”

Oh dear, Bish. I guess being a big ol’ tree has its downsides in terms of lateral movement ….

It was a great end to a gruelling week for Lundqvist, but we can’t help but notice the gray creeping into his beard. Hell, I’M grayer, and nobody’s even blaming me. HEY RANGERS PLAY GOOD SO HANK NEVER AGES KTHXBAI

Rangers 5, Lightning 2, tying the series at 2-2.

This series continues Sunday, May 24 at 8:00 Eastern in New York.

Once the points were tallied and the soundbytes given The Other Half took a vote and we agree:

What impressed us: Lundqvist, you sexy beast. Yes, there’s lots of ways to be a Rangers fan, but losing faith in Hank is not one of them. With all due respect to Cambot (and much as we miss #Kreiderkisses), Hank would have to lose a limb for the Goalbuster to start at this point.

What distressed us: This:

Kevin Hayes, the Bolts don’t need any more appendectomies. Stop that.

Saturday Beth gets a breather and it’s time for Sheila and Allyson to die of nerves as the Ducks meet the Hawks. See you then!
