Cup Check! May 23, 2015

Welcome to The Other Half’s crowdsourced playoff-recap for May 23, 2015. Tonight Sheila Lane, Casey Lucas, Amber French, and Eliza Eaton-Stern pitched in. As an aside, this is the second game in a row where Sheila fell asleep clutching a remote and woke up to find the Hawks had won. Ducks fans, you know where to send the caffeine.

At the end of the night the Hawks and Ducks made it into their 14th period of hockey in five days before the Hawks scored to take Game 4.

How about them details:

(CHI) SHG – Brandon Saad at 19:13 in the 1st period
(ANA) Emerson Etem at 18:15 in the 2nd period
(CHI) Jonathan Toews at 2:38 in the 3rd period
(CHI) Brent Seabrook at 7:38 in the 3rd period
(ANA) Ryan Kesler at 8:42 in the 3rd period
(ANA) Matt Belesky at 9:05 in the 3rd period
(ANA) Corey Perry at 9:19 in the 3rd period
(CHI) PPG – Patrick Kane at 12:39 in the 3rd period
(CHI) Antoine Vermette at 5:37 in the 2nd OT

Goalies: Frederik Andersen (ANA) stopped 36 of 41, Corey Crawford (CHI) stopped 47 of 51.

Third Period: A Story

So Chicago was like

And then Anaheim was like

Bystanders were like

And then Chicago was like:

As always, overtime was like:

And the game winner? The pride of Coyotes fans everywhere, Antoine Vermette, buries the rebound on his own shot (the only two he took) after being pulled for Game 3.

You can’t spell “shorthanded playoff goal” without “KNEEL BEFORE SAAD.” [Editor’s note: You can… but you shouldn’t.]

Ducks set records!

Duncan Keith continues to play obscene amounts of minutes. WHY.

#boneheaded #dangerous #wrong

Blackhawks 5, Ducks 4, tying the series at 2-2.

This series continues Monday, May 25 at 9:00 Eastern in Anaheim.

Once the points were tallied and the soundbytes given The Other Half took a vote and we agree:

What impressed us:

Teravainen passes to Sharp, Sharp gets the breakaway and shoots a beauty at Andersen, Andersen denies him. Brilliance x 3.

What distressed us:

Yeah, maybe don’t do that thing: the wisdom of The Other Half staffers.

Tune in tomorrow: Lightning. Rangers. Madison Square Garden. A writeup from Beth. What more could you ask for?
